Before remission, the UNFPA Representative was welcomed
by the First Lady of the country at the "Umusamariya w'Imbabazi"
orphanage, home to 22 orphaned children. The two personalities visited the
children's rooms and the various services of that orphanage. In her speech,
MANDONG said that that activity is worthy of support because it is a service to
humanity. She also encouraged the First Lady Denise Nkurunziza for her
commendable deeds.
After that visit, they also paid a visit to Buntu
Technical Secondary School in Buye. In a message to the students, the President
of Buntu Foundation urged them to create entrepreneurial projects based to
their sectors. She also encouraged them to abstain from early sexual
intercourse so as not to get sexually transmitted diseases or lose virginity.
For MANDONG, students must think about university studies to arrive as far as
possible. She said that the well-being of youth is included in UNFPA
commitments with the slogan "Zero pregnancy in school".
Finally, the visit was paid to the location where the
Buntu radio will be implanted. According to the UNFPA Representative in Burundi,
the radio equipment granted to Buntu Foundation has a value of 107 million
Burundian Francs. Her Excellency Reverend Denise Nkurunziza thanked the UNFPA
representative in Burundi for her warm welcome to the Buntu Foundation's
request. She said that the radio will certainly restore hope to the
underprivileged and contribute to the development of the country.
