The Inauguration of Buntu TV Radio |
Since this Saturday, January 03, 2018, a
Buntu Radio TV "The Voice of Orphans and Widows began broadcasting on 96.3
FM at Buye, Mwumba Commune, Ngozi Province. This radio, inaugurated by
President Nkurunziza, is editorial in support of the initiatives of the poor.
It was created by the Buntu Foundation, a philanthropic organization led by the
First Lady of Burundi.
In her welcoming speech, Mrs. Denise
Nkurunziza, The First Lady of Burundi said that the radio currently covers the
entire north, center and part of eastern Burundi. But there is a plan to put
relay transmitters to cover all the territory and neighbouring countries of
Burundi. She also indicated that the radio will also be online for the world to
watch its broadcasts. The purpose of this radio station is to give hope to the
most deprived people, including orphans, widows, etc. There will also be social
and economic development programs. It was also an opportunity to thank
organizations such as UNFPA for supporting that project and others who gave
their contributions.
In his speech, the President of the
Republic congratulated the Buntu Foundation for achieving its vision. The Head
of State also encouraged the Radio TV Buntu which has a perspective to support
the initiatives of the disinherited people. For him, he described that radio as
a great contribution to the development of the country and showed his
unwavering support for such initiatives.
Note that the Buntu TV Radio starts with a radio but the
television will be installed later.
