(PM): in “Lycée Notre Dame de la Sagesse”, the First Lady of the Republic of
Burundi and Chairlady of Buntu Foundation, Her Excellency Pastor Denise
Nkurunziza with the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific
Research, Janvière Ndirahisha granted a sleeping materials kit consisting of 35
mattresses and 67 blankets to pupils with special needs of this high school.
Among these, there are 10 girls and 19 boys visually impaired; 20 girls and 19
boys deaf-and- dumb.
“Lycée Notre Dame de la
Sagesse” of Gitega is a school of excellence chosen by the government to
accommodate children with special needs in its policy known as "inclusive
education" and it is doing since 4years.
The Director of the
School, Father Elie Sakubu said that despite the problems related to the lack
of appropriate infrastructures, insufficient teachers, machines adapted for
these children, lack of hoes to exploit their fields, etc., that appear in this
school, teachers and taughts manage to achieve the objectives.
After noticing that
they need hoes to till the school property in order to finance themselves, Her
Excellency Reverend Pastor Denise Nkurunziza promised a donation of hoes.
